Kinesio Taping

Did you see that weird taping on Kerri Walshes shoulder during the beach volleyball finals in the Olympics?  That is called kinesio taping and is a fairly new science that helps athletes with injury prone parts of their bodies.  You can apply it on the normal areas such as shoulders, wrists and ankles or the not so common areas such as the neck, psoas major, thighs or lower back.  The tape actually lifts your skin a little bit and this allows more blood flow and lymphatic flow to the muscles which allow them to heal quicker and relievs pain.  The tape itself can stay on for up to 3 or 4 days and it waterproof.  It is recommended to wear it often because it doesn’t cut of circulation but increases it.
