Long before I was even born my Mother had started her own home business that included picking wildflowers, pressing them and then making bookmarks by placing the flowers in between sheets of contact paper. She would spend her week making hundreds of these bookmarks, and then sell them at a local crafts market each weekend. Mom worked hard and I learned a lot of work ethic from her, but the business never really did turn into a multi-employee operation that needed cheap commercial insurance. But just the same, you can’t ever look down on someone that is able to pay all the bills and put food on the table by a means that was sprung from their own imagination. There are probably hundreds of small home businesses that will never grow into a large corporation, but are doing well enough to make a family happy.
