Gout is one of the most painful forms of arthritis and if you’ve ever had a gout attack, chances are you would agree. If you are new to this disease, you may be wondering what you can do to help get rid of the pain. There are many options available to you, however, in all honesty, none of them, including prescription medications get rid of gout quickly. Even though there is no quick solution, you can get yourself started down the road to recovery. Here are 3 gout remedies that can provide pain relief.
1. Yarrow root. This herb is not well known among non-alternative health fans, but it can be useful in treating gout pain. Yarrow root is believed to be capable of reducing swelling, which is crucial to getting rid of pain from an attack. If you have an alternative health store near you, chances are you will be able to find yarrow root or you can purchase it online.
2. Cherries. Cherries are famous for treating gout and many people have told stories of how cherries have healed their gout. I personally have had success with cherries. Studies show that cherries possibly can reduce gout pain. This is supposedly due to the anthocyanins in the cherries. One study showed that it takes about a cup of cherries to begin reducing pain. Cherries also have properties which can help reduce uric acid which causes gout.
3. Ice. This is one of the most controversial of all gout home remedies. Some people swear by using ice. The reason being that ice lessens swelling on the affected joint. Not to mention the cool sensation can provide relief to a joint that feels on fire. Others insist that ice should not be used for gout. Their reasoning is that cooling your joint reduces circulation allowing the uric acid to further crystallize causing increased pain. I have used ice and it’s helped, but you’ll have to decide if you want to try it for yourself.
Yarrow root, cherries, and ice are three gout remedies you can choose from that have the ability to provide relief during a painful gout attack.
