Difficulties with Quick Weight Loss

Most people will try to lose weight at some point in their lives.  Some people will do it the right way, but unfortunately a lot of people will try to take the easy route.  Quick weight loss schemes may be incredibly tempting because of their grand promises, but they end up failing in the end.  Like with most things in life, if it seems too good to be true, then it usually is.  Losing weight by eating less might have some affects at first, but it is almost impossible to keep weight off this way.  In fact most people who use starvation tactics we’ll end up starting a cycle of yo-yo dieting.  This will see them gaining more and more weight after each attempt at a diet.  A person can be last feeling demoralizes, frustrated, and certainly more unhealthy.

Weight loss can be a reaction to a number of things.  You may lose weight when you are sick, have a serious disease, or are starving.  As you can see, losing weight is associated with some seriously unhealthy things so not all weight loss can be considered good.  If you stop eating in hopes that you will lose weight you will essentially be putting your body in starvation mode.  The natural reaction to this is that your body will slow down your metabolism and increased hunger levels.  No matter how much willpower you have, you will not be able to stop the fact that your body thinks its starving.  With a slower metabolism you will have less energy, and impede your ability to burn off calories effectively.

If you want to lose weight in the long-term then you have to incorporate exercise into your daily routine.  If you have not exercised in a long time then even a little bit of movement will be preferable to a sedentary lifestyle.  A lot of people make the mistake of starting off with too much exercise too soon and they end up burning themselves out or needing back surgery.  So take things slow and remember that you should only be losing one or two pounds per week.  As well as eating less, keep accurate records of your caloric intake, and make notes about which areas you can make substitutions.  In the end, a healthy body will be naturally trim, and you should look at weight loss as a by-product rather than your main goal.
