The corporate mainstay for holding an identification badge is the neck lanyard. Most corporate policies state that employees need to be identified sat all times to have access to the buildings and property and wearing a name badge hanging form a lanyard is the most common way of doing it. Maybe some day a new technology will be developed and everyone will need to have an implant to identify themselves and then all security will need is a wireless scanner to determine the eligibility for someone to be on the property, but until that day arrives the low-tech solution of hanging a lanyard around your neck and attaching an identification tag to it will have to do.
There are different ways of attaching a badge to a lanyard and some of them use the bull-dog clip to do the job. The card itself has a small slot in the top and then the bull-dog clip clips through the slot and holds the badge firmly. Other devices include a plastic sleeve that the badge slips into and then hangs from the lanyard to be displayed and easily seen by all. Badges that also serve as access cards are some time attached to a badge reel for easy use in card readers and other devices. Some lanyards come as two pieces that snap together and the card attaches to the lower, shorter portion and it can be quickly detached from the rest of the lanyard, used to gain access and then easily re-attached for safekeeping.
However your corporate policies dictate identifying employees it is more than likely that a neck lanyard will be used to do the job. Get in step with the rest of the working world and make sure your lanyards are imprinted with the company logo and colors to make them a promotional item as well as an essential part of the work day.
