Scene and Emo Culture

You may have heard about the emo and scene culture among teens today but while many people tend to dismiss it as a trend, the emo culture has been around for over 25 years and it materialized from the hardcore punk music scene, while hardcore punk was an aggressive and political movement in the music scene, emo or emocore  (emotional hardcore) is a progression of this with a more personal and individual style of music.  Scene is a newer movement and is based in emo but the main difference is the focus has become more about individual style, rather than music, scene is heavy on fashion while there is no particular style an individual will spend quite a lot of time on their appearance.

This emphasis on clothing and hair has lead to many scenesters taking great pride in their “scene hair” this is usually a style unique to the wearer, most often self cut and dyed with colorful extensions.  Scene hair is for the most part, big hair, usually black with bright dyes or extensions.
