What Are Plyometric Workouts?

A plyometric workout is a series of jumping exercises designed to increase you vertical leap.  You can actually learn how to jump higher just as easy as you can learn how to lift more weight with any muscle of your body.  Our bodies learn how to adapt to any changes put on them.  Doing plyometrics causes our bodies to adapt and react by becoming stronger and faster, this results in jumping higher.  Plyos focus on teaching our golgi tendon reflex to react with greater power.  It does this by causing all the muscle fibers to contract at the exact same time instead of some firing before others.  So if you have ever wished you could jump higher to be better at something, you can if you follow a good jump program.
