Paper delivery jobs have decreased in popularity because more people are opting for jobs that are full time and they are shying away from part time employment. Most of the jobs that deal in delivery are on done for specific hours of the day and then after that business activities go down or they become non-existent until another day of work begins. More people of the legal working age have found that jobs that are full time have more security and that they are not as unsure as part time jobs are.
The decreasing popularity of paper delivery jobs can be blamed on the fact that they do not pay a lot of money. In a year, people who work in these jobs can get less than 15,000 dollars and this is barely enough to keep them going. Especially in the tough economic times when the price of living has gone up, the delivery jobs that handle newspapers have faced a lot of labor loses as people have left to go and search for jobs that offer them better pay. The low income in these jobs is attributed to the fact that work is done only for a few hours during the early morning and the rest of the day remains without work.
Jobs are gauged by how demanding they are. When people look for work they tend to go for those jobs that have less or fair demand so that they can also have time to do other things. While these jobs that deal in delivery of papers are not done the whole day, their work schedules are rather demanding. Work begins when it is still dark and employees have to work in the cold irrespective of the day therefore they know nothing of having off days on holidays and on weekends. When people see the demands in these jobs they avoid them and the jobs end up being less popular.
There is a general tendency for people to look for office jobs in the modern times.
