People that do colon cleaning believe that fecal matter builds up in the colon; this fecal material hardens or attaches to the colon walls and then becomes harder for the body to naturally expel. These colon cleaning practioners feel that because of this build up, the colon can become “toxic” which may lead to a variety of health problems. The health problems attributed to the “toxic colon” range from bad skin to cancer. There’s absolutely nothing that they won’t try to blame on bad colon health. Unfortunately, despite the popularity of colon cleaning no actual medical proof supports these claims, but still thousands of people practice colon cleaning and it shows no signs of stopping anytime soon. If you doubt what I’m saying here, ask any doctor and they will tell you that colon cleaning is a complete waste of time and money.

Facts about Your Body’s Colon

The colon is a hollow tube, approximately 5 feet long and with a diameter of 2-3 inches. The four parts that make up the human colon are the ascending colon, the transverse colon, the descending colon and the sigmoid colon. The function of the colon is to transport waste materials from the small intestine to the rectum and to also help the body absorb certain nutrients it needs from food. When the colon isn’t functioning optimally, this may leave you feeling tired, lacking energy and bloated, so a diet that is geared toward colon health needs to be high in fiber to help the colon clean itself better. When the colon is working well, you will have less stomach problems such as diarrhea and constipation and feel healthier overall.
